Introducing the Blue Plantation Band
Blue Plantation is an acoustic string band specializing in a diverse variety of authentic musical styles. These styles include Bluegrass, Irish, Blues, American Folk, Country, and Jazz. The band is made up of four musicians with a wide background of musical experience and a high level of expertise.

David Vaughan is originally from Greenwood, South Carolina and currently resides on Johns Island. He is a graduate of The Citadel class of 2000, and he brings to the table a rich tenor voice combined with a wonderful rhythmic style of his own on the mandolin. David has played with many local bands over the past decade and has learned a great deal about Charleston's music scene. He is influenced by many great musicians of all music styles from rock to jazz, but mostly by virtuoso mandolinist David Grisman, and therefore brings forth the element of "Dawg" music.

From Amherst, Ohio Aaron Gdovicak is Blue Plantations number one guitar man. With his vast knowledge of rhythmic patterns, chords, and music training, Aaron lays up a solid wall of sound and brings a blues/jazzy sound to the band. Some of Aaron's major influences include Doc Watson, Pat Lewandowski, Bobby May, Bryan Sutton, Tim May, Cody Kilby, Mike Dowling, Tony Rice, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Eric Johnson, and Russ Barenberg. Aaron graduated from
Bowling Green State University as a Bachelor of Science in Technology and is currenlty working for the City of Charleston.

From Windsor, North Carolina via a twenty-year stint in Nashville, Tennessee
Allan Thompson is the lead singer, front man, and multi-instrumentalist for Blue Plantation. Allan plays the 5-string banjo, dobro, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica. His main musical influences are Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Josh Graves, Kevin Burke and Charlie McCoy. Allan brings a commercial edge to the band from his vast experience on the road with major country artists and the stage of the Grand Ole Opry as a sideman. He is also a full-time music instructor for guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo.

Charleston, South Carolina being a modern day cultural melting pot leaves Blue Plantation with the opportunity to serve up the musical main course for Charlestonians and tourists alike.
